All of the physicians at Suburban Orthopaedics are Board Certified or Board Eligible

Board certification and eligibility means that the physicians at Suburban Orthopaedics have committed themselves to the highest standard of patient care. The American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery awards certification after the orthopedic surgeon has met specified educational, evaluation and examination requirements.

The certification process requires that a physician be a graduate of an accredited medical school and have completed five years of graduate orthopaedic residency in an accredited program. After completing the graduate work, the surgeon then must pass a written exam, complete 22 months of practice, demonstrate professional proficiency and ethical practice and pass an oral exam. Each orthopaedic surgeon must then recertify every 10 years with the governing board which includes a review of credentials to determine the surgeon has continued his/her education in orthopaedics surgery or other such specialty, that the surgeon is knowledgeable and respected by their peers, and the surgeon must complete a details practice audit or complete a written or oral examination exemplifying their skills. This recertification process ensures that each surgeon at Suburban Orthopaedics is current in their skill, knowledge, and practice of their field and the ever changing aspects of the health care system.
